USM Department of Recreation and Leisure Studies

The Department of Recreation and Leisure Studies offers a baccalaureate degree with concentrations in therapeutic recreation.

The department also offers minors in disability studies, nature tourism, and recreation leadership, as well as a variety of health/fitness instructional activity courses.

The Maine Recreational Therapy Association's mission is to empower its members to identify their needs and to use their collective strength to create resources and opportunities to meet those needs. The Maine Recreational Therapy association shall promote professional excellence in Recreational Therapy by: promoting the health and well being of its consumers, furthering the identified objectives of its members, creating opportunities for professional and consumer collaboration, promoting ethical responsibility, and seeking to advance the profession. The Maine Recreational Therapy Association is a membership oriented organization that recognizes the knowledge, expertise and contributions of each member.
